Star Wars Adidas

Attention geeks everywhere!

Check the new Adidas Star Wars Collection. Now you can dress up that Darth Vader costume with the real deal – official Adidas Star Wars shoes. You will be the envy of the neighborhood. Imagine the possibilites … Dressing up like Chewbacca and donning a pair of Stormtrooper specials. Pretty slick, indeed.

When I first saw this collection, I almost thought I had been punked. I checked the URL and sure enough it was Adidas.com. Growing up watching the first Star Wars movies, I imagined that in 2010 we would be zooming around in flying machines circling monstrous buildings. Although that didn’t happen, the Official Adidas Star Wars collection did. My questions is, “Why did it take 33 years?”

Utili-Key 6-in-1 tool

Utili-Key 6-in-1 tool

Utili-Key 6-in-1 tool

Several years ago, I picked up a Utili-Key 6-in-1 tool at my local auto parts store. It turned out to be an awesome little tool. It features:

  • Semi-serrated knife blade
  • Regular blade
  • Micro Flat screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Eyeglass screwdriver
  • Bottle opener

It looks like a key and easily snaps on and off your keyring. I took it off once and loaned it to somebody and never saw it again. Time to pick up another one.

Martin Luther King mashup

Martin Luther King

Today, in the United States, it’s Martin Luther King Jr. day. A day or remembrance and reflection on a man whose words are as powerful today as the day he spoke them. We celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day on the third Monday which is close to Kings birthday. (January 15)

Below is a mashup, from an earlier post, of King’s famous “Drum Major Speech.” I took the audio from the speech and created a music bed then added a female backing voice:

Why does hot tea help a sore throat?

Why does hot tea help a sore throat?

Tonight I had a sore throat. I was curious why drinking hot tea often helps a sore throat. I really didn’t have to look further than the AnswerBag. I think the person answering the question meant Phlegm.

Vintage ads with famous people

Michael Jackson
There is something so wrong using Michael Jackson to pitch to kids. If they only knew then what we know now.

You think Warhol would be promoting Campbell’s Soup. They asked Andy to paint a picture of the Pioneer receiver. He couldn’t finish because he was so wrapped up in the beautiful sound. What?? That painting doesn’t look like anything he would paint.

Control a helicopter from your iPhone? Yep, there’s an app for that!

Four years of research and development went into building the Parrot AR Drone quadricopter. The AR Drone generates it’s own WiFi network which allows an iPhone or iTouch to connect and uses the built in accelerometer for control. It also features two onboard cameras which can viewed on your iPhone.

There is an autopilot feature which allows easy take offs and landings. The first question I had was “What happens if WiFi signal is lost?” In the event the WiFi signal is lost – part of the autopilot feature – the AR Drone will take over and stabilize and land the craft safely. Because it’s powered by Lithium-ion Polymer batteries, the AR Drone can fly for roughly 15 minutes.
